Reflective Material (Flux) PROJECT
Reflective Material (Flux) explores identity, belonging, and cultural memory from the perspective of the Black and Afro-Diasporic experience. It reflects on what it means to live between cultures and languages, and how identity is shaped through movement, history, and personal memory. Using colour and collage as visual markers, it weaves together stories, symbols, and everyday moments to communicate across distance, time, and cultural difference. Central to the work is a questioning of fixed ways of seeing and knowing.
This body of work merges two earlier projects — Somewhere In Between (2019) and Reflective Material (2021) — which share a common visual language and conceptual focus. Brought together, they form a singular, ongoing exploration of the in-between: a space where identity is in flux, and nothing is ever fully fixed or final.
